LiteWerkz Presents #showerthoughts

An immersive irridiscent light installation

Welcome to the Light Life

During my freshmore year, I had the honor of teaming up with a group of madmen (Muhd Syahid, Daniel Yong, Kerine Kua, Jun Kang, Tan Wan Ting, Patrick Khoo, Ong Ying Ying, Yap Zi Qi) to attempt an installation that went far beyond what any of us imagined. I distinctly remember the brainstorming sessions we had that lasted from 10pm-2am - the group just could not settle on a single idea, until the idea came about to recreate a bath room with soap bubbles within which the mind wanders. Originally the full idea included a toilet seat in the middle of the room for our patrons to sit and wonder - but alas - art has its limits.

Contributions

For this project my main effort was in developing the proposal and getting approval from the selection panel (Singapore's National Heritage Board) to secure the funding. Apart from that I contributed in the installation's conceptualization, design, wiring and light sequencing ideas. The installation was well-received and was featured on Yahoo!, today and INDESIGNLIVE.

LiteWerkz is still active as of 2021 and you can check out more of their works at LiteWerkz Studio.
